The cost of registering and renewing .UK domain names is changing. Nominet, the .UK domain registry, announced back in November 2015 that the wholesale price for .UK domains (e.g. .uk, .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk) will increase from 1 March 2016.
They also announced that they will no longer offer discounts on ‘multi-year’ registrations or renewals.
Russell Haworth, CEO of Nominet, said in a statement:
“We’re committed to running a first-class service for .UK registrants, including our renowned customer service, and we’re doing more than ever before to ensure the .UK space is safe and trusted home for all. But costs have risen considerably since we last changed the price, and we need to compete in a promotion-driven industry.”
As a result of these changes, Host Solutions will be making changes to their .UK prices accordingly.
As of March 1st 2016, the cost of registering or renewing .UK domains (.uk, .co.uk, .org.uk and .me.uk) with Host Solutions will increase from £5.99 per year to £6.99 per year. Additionally, all renewals will be offered for 1 year by default.
Along with these increases, the price of .COM domains will change from £10.49 to £11.99 and the cost of .NET domains will changes from £11.49 to £12.99 from 1 February 2016.
